A Lot Has Changed at Burning Acre. Here’s What’s Been Happening.
If it feels like a lot has changed around Burning Acre lately, you’re not imagining it.
The last few months have brought some of the biggest changes our industry — and our company — have seen in years. New regulations have reshaped the hemp market in Tennessee, we’ve expanded into North Carolina, our Columbia store has entered a new era, and behind the scenes, we’ve been developing new products and planning for what comes next.
So, here’s where things stand at Burning Acre.
Columbia Has a New Look
This summer, major changes to Tennessee’s hemp laws changed what could legally be manufactured and sold in the state.
For Burning Acre, that meant adapting our Columbia store and manufacturing operation to a very different Tennessee market.
Today, Columbia has expanded heavily into cannabinoid wellness, with a growing lineup of THC-free CBD, CBG and CBN products alongside other compliant offerings.
And rather than simply filling the shelves with products from other companies, we’ve gone back to what Burning Acre has always done best: making our own.
We’ve been developing and producing new wellness gummies, tinctures, baked goods and other cannabinoid products right here in our Columbia kitchen.
Our gummy lineup now includes options ranging from beginner-friendly CBD to daily-strength formulas, as well as CBD + CBG and CBD + CBN combinations. We’ve also introduced our own line of tinctures and have continued expanding our in-house wellness collection.
Columbia may look different than it did a year ago, but the heart of Burning Acre is still very much the same.
We're still at 420 W 7th St Columbia, TN 38401!

And Then There’s Murphy
While Tennessee’s market was changing, we saw an opportunity just a few hours east.
Our Murphy, North Carolina location has opened an entirely new chapter for Burning Acre.
North Carolina now has a very different hemp market than Tennessee, which has allowed us to bring much more of the original Burning Acre experience to Murphy — including flower, edibles and a broader range of hemp-derived cannabis products.
More importantly, it has given us room to continue doing what we’ve spent years building Burning Acre around: creating great products, educating customers and making cannabis feel approachable.
The response to Murphy has already been incredible.
We’ve welcomed customers from across Western North Carolina, North Georgia, East Tennessee and plenty of places in between — including quite a few familiar Tennessee faces who have made the trip to see us.
Murphy is still just getting started, and we have some big plans for what comes next.
You can find us at 115 Tennessee St Murphy, NC 28906!
Tuesday - Saturday: 10am - 8pm
Sunday: 12pm - 6pm
Monday: Closed

The Industry Is Changing Again
Of course, the changes aren't limited to Tennessee.
At the federal level, the hemp industry is facing another major shift. December 11, 2026 is an important deadline. Under the current federal language, the definition of legal hemp would change significantly — including a limit of just 0.4 milligrams of total THC per finished package.
To put that into perspective, that's not 0.4 mg per serving. It's 0.4 mg in the entire package.
And the impact wouldn't be limited to products people typically think of as “THC products.” A threshold that low could affect a much broader range of hemp products, including full-spectrum wellness products and products that contain only naturally occurring trace amounts of THC.
There is still time between now and December 11 for lawmakers to hear from the people and businesses these changes would affect.
If access to hemp products matters to you, we encourage you to contact your U.S. House Representative and Senators and let them know how you feel. You don't need to be an industry expert or write a five-page letter. Tell them what these products mean to you, why you believe they should remain accessible, and ask them to support a workable federal hemp framework that protects consumers without eliminating responsible businesses and products in the process.
The people making these decisions need to hear from the people who will actually be affected by them.
Your voice matters — use it.
Ebbing, Flowing & Moving Forward
If there’s one thing the last several years have taught us, it’s how to ebb and flow with an industry that rarely stays the same for long.
We can’t always control when the laws change, when the rules get rewritten or what the next curveball will look like. What we can control is how we respond — and the quality of what we continue to put into the world.
So that’s what we’re focused on.
No matter what Burning Acre looks like from one season to the next, we’ll continue bringing you the same clean, thoughtfully made products you’ve come to know us for. We’ll keep paying attention to ingredients. We’ll keep testing our products. We’ll keep educating ourselves and our customers. And whenever we can make something better, we will.
We’ve been ebbing, flowing, pivoting and figuring it out since 2019 — and we’re not stopping now.
The landscape may keep changing, but our standards don’t.
Here’s to whatever comes next.
